How Ready Are Students For Live Learning Online?
Over the last few years, education has changed significantly. Online methods of learning have replaced traditional classes in the classroom. They combine the flexibility of prerecorded lessons and class meetings held using real-time software. These online methods may not be sufficient for students who prefer a classroom with real-time interaction.
Live online learning is a viable option to other online learning strategies. It permits students and instructors to communicate in real-time using videoconferencing programs such as Zoom. Students are given the opportunity to ask questions, dispel confusion, and gain greater understanding of the course material.
While there are many advantages to using live learning, it can be difficult for some students to adjust to this kind of online learning. This study examines the students’ ability to learn online and identifies core factors that impact this. The results reveal that most important factors that influence students’ readiness are motivation for learning and online communication, as well as self-directed learning ability. Researchers also conducted a post-hoc test and multi-group analysis to analyze gender differences, undergraduate, graduate, and sub-degree students. It was found that postgraduate students are more level of readiness in many aspects of live-learning compared to undergraduate and sub-degree students.
To ensure that students are prepared for an Live Session, it is recommended that instructors set out clear expectations of what they will need to know and do before and after the session.
